GPs have saved UK from ‘opioid crisis’ - RCGP

Responding to an investigation into opioid prescribing by the Sunday Times, Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard, chair of the Royal College of GPs, defended UK GPs against the report’s allegations of overprescribing.

GPs take their prescribing responsibilities seriously and observe the relevant clinical guidelines, she said. She rejected the charge that the UK was heading for a US-style “opioid crisis”.
