GPs feel QOF targets overtake clinical care

GPs believe the QOF needs rebalancing to prevent it intruding into clinical consultations, a BMA survey suggests.

The BMA Welsh GPs committee surveyed GPs to find their views on the QOF and ask about their bugbears.

More than four out of five (83 percent) of 239 responses felt that the QOF made up too high a proportion of GPs’ income.

Other results showed 89 percent felt that QOF targets had overtaken clinical care in the day-to-day management of patients and 52 percent felt health boards did not commission sensible locally enhanced services.
