GP Winter Indemnity Scheme – extension to cover Easter

As part of a broader General Practice Forward View commitment to address the issue of rising indemnity costs, NHS England’s 2016 GP Winter Indemnity Scheme is designed to meet the costs of personal professional indemnity for additional out of hours work undertaken by GPs.

Previously planned to run from October 2016 to March 2017, the scheme has been extended to the end of April 2017 so that GPs wishing to work additional sessions, particularly over the Easter Bank Holiday period, can now do so without incurring additional indemnity costs. Further information is available on the NHS England website.
