Funding for disabled people’s toilets in NHS hospitals

Over £500,000 has been given to 10 NHS trusts in England to build new toilets for severely disabled people.

The investment will more than double the number of purpose-built toilets in NHS hospitals across England. The toilets have additional equipment for people who are not able to use the toilet independently, including adult-sized changing benches and hoists. The first tranche of funding will enable 16 new facilities to be built. Other sites will be invited to bid for a further £1.5m.
