Flexible retirement in workforce planning

NHS Employers has published a case study on a hospital’s use of age-profiling in workforce and succession planning.

The technique helped City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to use the flexibilities in the NHS pension scheme to  retain a skilled workforce and overcome recruitment problems.

The case study includes tips on how to review requests for flexible retirement and looks at the benefits of flexible retirement for both the employer and the employee.
