Eyecare commissioning guidance launched

NHS Alliance chief executive Michael Sobanja launched new eye care commissioning guidance on 16 June to aid clinical commissioning groups to provide quality, cost-effective eye care services for their patients. Speaking at the Vision UK 2011 conference Michael Sobanja says: “It is important to have patients right at the heart of eye care service commissioning. This new guidance will assist commissioners to improve quality of provision in a sustainable manner.”

The conference and guidance are both initiatives of the UK Vision Strategy, an initiative to transform the nation's eye health and sight loss services. Produced in collaboration with leading general practitioners, ophthalmologists and other key clinicians, the new guidance takes a hands-on approach to local commissioning.
