Developing care services for patients following percutaneous cardiac intervention (PCI)

This project aimed to understand the patient experience of PCI in Wales, and used this to develop a post-PCI service that was responsive, timely and patient centred.

At the start of the project, 15% of patients were referred to cardiac rehabilitation following PCI compared to 84% of patients upon completion of the project. The outcome from the second focus group, held at the end of the project, indicated that patients were more satisfied with the support and care they received following discharge.
