Deaf people get worse deal from health
A report from a health charity concludes that deaf people have more health problems and get a worse service from the NHS than the general population.
The report, Sick of It, from SignHealth claims that deaf people are more likely to have certain life-limiting conditions, are less likely to receive a diagnosis and are less likely to be on effective treatment as a result of problems with communication and access to services. The report estimates the cost of leaving these problems unsolved at £30m a year.
