Connecting GP patient records across the NHS

Two leading software suppliers to the NHS have launched a ground-breaking initiative to enable the vast majority of GPs in the UK to give joined up care through secure data-sharing with any other healthcare organisation.

All four major GP system suppliers will join together to deliver a key foundation stone in realising health secretary Jeremy Hunt’s plans for a paperless NHS – while increasing efficiency and improving patient care. It means that GPs will be able to securely share information from patients’ records with the rest of the NHS, including other community providers, and secondary and urgent care clinicians – enabling seamless, high-quality care to millions.
