Commissioning of public health services for children

From 1 October 2015, responsibility for commissioning children’s public health services, including health visitors, will transfer from NHS England to local authorities.

The Department of Health has produced six documents to support local authorities and other stakeholders through the transition. The documents identify six areas where health visitors have the most impact on the health and wellbeing of children up to five years. Local authorities should use this information to ensure that health visiting services are commissioned effectively.
