Commissioners bring essential skills to integrated care

A report from NHS Clinical Commissioners argues that the expertise and skills of commissioners will be essential to the development of integrated care systems.

The report, based on interviews with nine CCGs, comes in the wake of the NHS Long Term Plan which makes it clear that there will be only one commissioning body for each of the 44 STP/ICS areas. There are 200 CCGs today, though several have already merged and others operate under joint management arrangements.
