Chlamydia screening levels fallen 10% short of target
The national chlamydia screening programme has driven an almost 100% increase in testing levels for 15-24 year olds in England, which grew from 18,000 in 2003/04 to just under 1.8m in 2010/11.
However, in spite of these impressive efforts, in 2010/11 the programme still fell ten per cent short of its target of screening 35% of 15-24 year olds.
This report highlights the need to raise awareness through the right channels for the target age group in order to achieve proposed testing levels.
