British invention could save hospitals millions

Many patients put on drips for emergency rehydration could have been spared the inconvenience and risk of infection. A British invention launched today promises to reduce the use of drips in hospitals and other care settings, saving money and reducing plastic waste from drips which are used once before disposal.

The Water-Drop is a non-intravenous drinking system that allows patients to be kept hydrated in situations where they might otherwise struggle to help themselves, and without requiring intervention from staff.
