Speakers at the event at Westminster's QEII Conference Centre, include Lord Howe, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Quality (with responsibility for eye care). He will be giving a key address about his vision for the Big Society and eye care. Lord Howe said:
"Effective eye health and sight loss services are a vital part of our NHS and I look forward to attending the conference and meeting key people in the world of eye care."

Recently confirmed speakers include:

  • Professor Sir Muir Gray CBE, Joint Lead, NHS QIPP Programme Right Care
  • Richard Humphries, Senior Fellow, Social Care The King's Fund
  • Samantha Peters Chief Executive and Registrar, General Optical Council

Key topics of the day encompass the 'Big Society,' commissioning changes and the recent advances in assistive technology for blind and partially sighted people. With the current financial pressures and the changes to the commissioning landscape, the conference is perfectly timed to bring the sector together to further maximise value in eye care provision. An online tool providing new commissioning guidance for eye care will also be launched on the day by Chief Executive, NHS Alliance, Michael Sobanja.

New masterclass session announced: Masterclass 7: 'Improving eye care through maximising value; the population approach'
Exploring how to deliver best value health care and what this means.
