This one-day course aims to provide an overview of the design, data collection, analysis, and reporting considerations associated with successful incorporation of PROMs in clinical trials. It’s aimed at Chief and Principal Investigators, trial managers, clinical researchers, and academics. In this course, you’ll learn to:


  • understand the different types of PROM and how to select the right measure
  • understand the key PROM trial design issues
  • identify which information should appear in the trial protocol and staff training
  • prevent and manage missing data and scoring errors
  • manage ‘PRO Alerts’
  • understand basic PROM data analysis
  • report PROM results appropriately using the CONSORT PRO extension


The course is taught by Prof Mel Calvert, Dr Thomas Keeley, and Dr Derek Kyte from the University of Birmingham.
