Next steps for social care in Wales

Scheduled as the Social Services and Well-being Act comes into force and following the publication of CSSIW’s National Review of Domiciliary Care in Wales in April 2016, this seminar will be a timely opportunity to discuss the challenges and next steps for social care in Wales.

Imelda Richardson, Chief Inspector, Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales and Sarah Rochira, Older People's Commissioner for Wales have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar. 

The conference will also bring together key stakeholder perspectives to share thinking on the three-year development programme for domiciliary care workers, the findings of the recently-launched Welsh Government consultation, Domiciliary care workforce, as well as the financial sustainability of the care sector in Wales in light of budget cuts and the introduction of the National Living Wage.

At this early stage, Professor Carol Atkinson, Professor, Human Resources Management and Director, Centre of People and Performance, Business School, Manchester Metropolitan University; Dr Rekha Elaswarapu, Member, Project Review Board, Elderly Care, Which? and Associate, Good Governance Institute; Dave Street, Vice President, ADSS Cymru and Corporate Director of Social Services, Caerphilly County Borough Council; Cassy Taylor, Associate Director, Vocational Qualifications, Qualifications Wales and speakers to be confirmed from United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA)GMBand Care Council for Wales have also agreed to speak at this seminar.
