GP practices need to be at the centre of new care models, but understanding how best to position themselves to work with others is crucial.  Trusts also need to understand how to work with large groups of practices, and commissioners need to enable the process.  This event allows all GPs, practice managers, commissioners and trust colleagues to come together to understand the new models and what is working in practice.

The event will explore the impact of the national policy direction as well as case studies of different models, including a primary care home site and a larger collaboration in Manchester.  You will learn from those already working at scale about the levers and opportunities afforded by new models of care.

We will be joined by a lawyer who has worked with some of the new accountable care organisations  to explain how these models can be commissioned and the contracting arrangements needed to get them working.

Speakers include:

Dr Stewart Smith – a GP from St Austell Healthcare, where general practice is working with the hospital, community services and social care

Ian Williamson - the chief officer of Greater Manchester Health and Social Care, who provides a commissioner’s perspective of delivering community-centred service transformation over a footprint covering 12 CCGs

Dr Sohail Munshi – a GP and clinical lead for GP federations in the city of Manchester and aspirant local care organisation

Robert McGough – partner at Hill Dickinson LLP, who works on health sector legal commercial and contractual issues for NHS/public sector organisations as well as independent providers.

Places at the event on 25 January in Manchester will be strictly limited.
