The Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) agenda continues to be a priority a priority now and in the future; it is a vehicle to deliver NHS reforms. The QIPP collection on NHS Evidence (www.evidence.nhs.uk/QIPP) shows how staff are saving money without compromising quality. If the examples were adopted by 50% of eligible organisations, they alone would save the NHS over £700 million.
NHS Kidney Care is hosting an e-seminar in partnership with the Anaemia Nurse Specialist Association (ANSA) to look at a ‘recommended’ case study in the collection that looks at the benefits of giving patients with kidney disease intravenous iron at home and in community hospitals on Tuesday 12th July at 4pm. The session is the first in a series of WebExs which form part of an overall plan to promote, expand and encourage uptake of QIPP collection examples.
The session will be led by the case study author who will present her work to move care closer to the patients’ home. The initiative reduced patient journey times, transport costs, the risk of hospital acquired infections and travel related injuries. At the same time, the case study demonstrates improvements in patient comfort and satisfaction and generates considerable cost savings
