THE RISE OF CONSUMER HEALTH INFORMATION – KEYNOTE SPEAKER Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing

TUESDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2011

THE GRAND CENTRAL HOTEL, 99 GORDON STREET, GLASGOW, G1 3SF

The Patient Information Forum (PiF) is delighted to announce its first Scottish conference looking at the increasingly important role that Consumer Health Information (CHI) plays in healthcare.

Central to this change is the Patient Rights Act which looks to ensure that people have the quality assured information they need, when they need it, and that NHS staff are supported to ensure they communicate such information effectively.

Starting with the patient's voice to set the scene, the conference will bring together speakers from the NHS, Government, voluntary and academic sectors to look at topics including the Healthcare Quality Strategy, Shared-Decision Making, Self-Management and health literacy.

Break out sessions will focus on providing practical insights around Accessibility and Shared-Decision Making, with delegates also being given insights how to get Boards to commit resources to consumer health information. We're honoured to have such a range of expert speakers from Scottish organisations at the forefront of health information.

PiF's conferences are THE must-attend events for professionals involved in producing and providing health information to patients and the public. Our UK-wide annual conference regularly sells out of exhibition and delegate places with weeks to go. This is the first exclusively Scottish conference, and we expect over 150 attendees.

To confirm your place, make sure you book now. Visit www.pifonline.org.uk/scotlandconference for more details.
