Great leaders understand how to communicate. Well communicated messages build trust, promote understanding and create confidence – the essential conditions for leading change and meeting challenges.

This online course will make you better at planning what you want to say and at putting it across clearly and unambiguously, even under pressure.

It will suit practice managers, GPs, CCG managers, commissioners and any manager new to leadership.

The session will enable you to develop your skills in a group of up to 15 participants facilitated by an experienced and qualified coach.

You will take part in a number of exercises supported by expert feedback, allowing you to embed new skills rapidly and see evidence of improvement.

The session will enable you to:

  • Develop awareness of what effective communication is and is not
  • Practice how to deliver your message with confidence, and learn how pace, silence and eye contact create impact
  • Develop the skill to structure your message in a way that builds trust and understanding among your audience
  • Face real-time challenges and feedback to accelerate improvement
  • Practice note-writing skills that keep the focus on the message and reduce preparation.

The training will be split into three online sessions running over the course of the day and you will need to participate in each session.

The workshop is led by Colin Murray, an experienced leader, coach and facilitator who has delivered development programmes for numerous CCGs and medical practices. Colin’s workshops and training sessions for PCC get consistently excellent feedback and high satisfaction scores from participants.
