As recent developments make increasingly clear, policy makers are determined to end divisions between secondary care and other parts of the health system.

NHS England’s document Integrating Care: Contracting for Accountable Models, published in August, is just the latest signal that trusts will be partners in systems of care that encompass primary and community care as well as traditional hospital based services.

The emerging new models and the contracting arrangement that underpin them are explored in this event, which uses case studies to allow delegates to explore how experience from other parts of the country can be applied to their local aspirations.

The event provides an update on the evolving national policy and looks in detail at NHS England’s contract for accountable care organisations (ACOs), considering the implications for GPs, trusts and commissioners involved in developing ACOs.

The event is relevant for all organisations and staff involved in shaping new models of care and local solutions. It will cover:

  • Establishing the foundations for success· Legal frameworks
  • Contracting types and clarity about what to use and when
  • Primary care integration
  • Case studies and examples of what others have done
  • Contracting structures
  • Lessons learned from use of the contracting process

The event gives delegates the opportunity to compare their thoughts and to discuss different approaches and potential solutions with one another and with legal experts.
