Premises policy is a vital component of high quality primary care, and is set to become more important as premises are developed to support the policy ambitions of primary care networks and integrated care.

Ensuring that premises and estates policy is well managed, that decisions taken about funding comply with the regulations, and that resources reach the parts of the system that need it most are now responsibilities of CCGs.

Primary care estates management demands judgement and a good understanding of the GMS premises costs directions – the rules governing the various aspects of premises funding.

As commissioners take on this key role, PCC has developed a premises training event to demystify the rules and principles of the premises costs directions and to provide clarity and confidence in managing applications.

The event will focus on the premises costs directions in general and will cover specific elements in detail, including improvement grants, abatements, the rent review process and sources of funding. There will also be plenty of time for a Q&A giving delegates an opportunity to get answers to their questions.

PCC has for many years supported the NHS England premises and estates team to provide commissioners with the information they need to apply the regulations in practice.

The workshop is for individuals who are new in post or who have recently taken on responsibility for premises as part of the delegation of these duties to CCGs.
