This timely conference investigates shortfalls in current legislation regarding whistleblowing, changes in the legal landscape around support and protection for whistleblowers, and the relevant Francis report recommendations. Through four real life whistleblowing case studies and explores the key legal issues each example presents. The themes covered are the effectiveness of PIDA, duty of candour, vicarious liability, and criminal liability.

Following each case study and whistleblower testimonial, legal experts will outline the current legal situation relating to the theme, looking at:

•             conclusions to be drawn from each case,

•             how such situations arise;

•             what the relevant implications are of the Francis report,

•             what impact government responses to the report may have,

•             whether prescribed changes will help and, if not,

•             what else needs to happen.

Through a combination of first-hand testimonials, speakers with specialist legal expertise, and facilitated group discussion work, the conference aims to equip delegates with a fully up-to-date awareness of the legal issues around whistleblowing, an understanding of changes taking place, and a list of practical actions to address these issues.
