What they needed

A network to share resources and forms with providers.

How NHS Networks helped

NHS Networks provided technical support to the network administrator.

In summary

David Brown, optometry lead, Birmingham Solihull and Black Country Area Team, said: “Using NHS Networks has enabled us to be a lot smarter in the way we use resources by posting a whole range of forms on the network for access instantly by providers. We have also used networks to advise contractors of pathway revisions, job vacancies, staffing changes, policies, news stories and regulatory changes. Indeed our local representative committees have also asked us to post content for them as well.

“NHS Networks offers commissioners a really effective platform from which to communicate with our providers electronically and this is something that we have never had before. In the current world of scarce resources it offers us the opportunity to communicate with our providers at no cost.

“As NHS Networks evolves it gives the NHS an instant method of communicating with contractors/performers and others without the need for costly mailshots. It has let us give providers updates on a whole range of subjects. It considerably lightens the administrative burden of preparing and sending out items by post.”
