E-guides

"In NHS Birmingham East & North we are using programme budgeting to help prioritise our investment. It is an excellent way to engage with clinicians because it is based around disease areas and health outcomes.
The resources available on this website provide an easy way for commissioners to understand spend and outcomes by disease area. They help to ensure that the best possible value is achieved from every pound spent. This is critical to help deliver optimal health outcomes for our population."

E-guides - Quick start (NEW)
To help commissioners understand their expenditure and associated outputs and outcomes, a range of e-guides have been produced. Using the guides, commissioners can produce additional versions of the health investment packs for different programmes. This section contains two guides to quickly get you started. The first one is for PCTs and the second one for GP commissioners. Click on the following icons to access the quick start guides:

The latest report outlines the techniques of programme budgeting, marginal analysis and the various health investment analysis tools available to the NHS to maximise value from health investment.
The tools, experience and evidence base have grown since the last APVR and new sections have been added on QIPP and service line management. Click on the following link and icon to access the latest APVR:
