Conference: Social Enterprise Within Health & Social Care - A Seminar
Free seminar on 25 November 2009, 10am - 2pm, Hammersmith & Fulham Carers Centre, 182a Hammersmith Road, London W6 7DJ
Mainstream community, voluntary & third sector organisations are increasingly embracing social enterprise to consolidate & extend their services & operations & strategically positioning themselves to sustain services, operate in & take advantage of the competitive contracts and commissioning culture & processes.
The emergence of social enterprise in the Health & Social Care sector is a growing & important development offering new opportunities within contracts commissioning & funding processes.
However, social enterprise and opportunities associated with it remain untapped by BME community & third sector organisations, with few BME organisations incorporating social enterprises or consortium based approaches as vehicles to secure grants or contracts and to address
inequalities in Health & Social Care particularly within BME communities.
Seminar Aims to:

- identify capacity building needs of BME health & social care providers
- explore potential for diverse BME groups & providers to come together within partnerships and consortiums & bid for grants and contracts
- around addressing health inequalities and meeting health & social care needs of BME communities
- improve engagement between NHS, commissioners, allied health professionals, third sector and BME communities.
