Introducing HELP – Health Equality Library Portal
NHS North West building online library of quantitative and qualitative equality data
NHS North West is planning to build an online library of quantitative and qualitative equality data, as well as references to other resources that can help inform a wide range of activities where an understanding of population, workforce and service user diversity is essential.
NHS North West has begun the development of an easily accessible, authoritative and effectively managed centralized repository of up-to-date equality and diversity information and know-how in order to:
-
Support the production of effective equality impact assessments of strategies, policies, frameworks etc
-
Support the production of evidence-based equality schemes
-
Support PCTs in achieving WCC competencies 5 (manage knowledge and assess needs) and 6 (prioritise investment according to local needs)
-
Identify knowledge gaps
-
Share quality best practice and policy material and prevent unnecessary duplication of effort
-
Support Equality and Diversity Leads in their work
At this stage, NHS North West are looking for potential users to help inform the development by completing a short online survey that will take only 3 - 4 minutes. You can complete the survey by clicking http://tinyurl.com/nhsnwdata. By participating in the survey you will be ensuring that your current and future information needs are met.
The purpose of this survey is to help inform and prioritise planning in terms of the kinds of users and the kinds of information that are needed.
The NHS North West are also looking for people working with specific equality target groups or those involved in developing strategies, policies, frameworks etc to be part of a user steering group. If you are interested in becoming part of a user steering group or if you would just like to discuss HELP in further detail contact Anurita Mulchand, anurita.mulchand@northwest.nhs.uk, Project Manager Equality and Diversity, Tel: 0161 625 7357
