Community Therapists Network Annual Conference

Sheffield, 24 September

This year's Community Therapists Network Annual Conference will be held at the Norfolk Park Heritage Centre, Sheffield, Wednesday on 24 September 2008 and will focus on two research projects with specific relevance to community therapy teams.

The first, "COOP", was led by Dr Susan Nancarrow of Sheffield Hallam University and examined the impact of different models of staffing on the outcomes of community based services for older people. The outcomes assessed were patient-related (health status and functional status; staff-related (satisfaction, autonomy and role flexibility) and the service-related (costs and length of stay).

The second project, entitled "Enhancing the effectiveness of interprofessional working: costs and outcomes" is led by Professor Pam Enderby. This research builds on findings of the first project with a view to developing a good practice model to support the implementation of interprofessional working in community based therapy teams. Results of an extensive literature review will be presented and delegates will be consulted on the approaches to implementing the work.
