Community Health Involvement & Empowerment Forum (CHIEF)
Aims and Objectives:

To provide community members with up-to-date health information, impartial advice, emotional support and advocacy service to help reduce health inequalities in England & Wales;

To empower community members with knowledge and understanding to make better health choices to improve their quality of life;

To improve the community's access to health care, social care, and mental health care services in England and Wales;

To improve and enhance community's capacity building potentials in England and Wales;
Activities:

To organise multilingual health awareness conferences/workshops for the benefit of wider community;

To publish & distribute healthcare information books/booklets/leaflets for the benefit wider community;

To liaise with Department of Health, Primary Care Trusts, NHS hospitals, Regional Health Authorities and health-related charitable organisations for corporate partnerships and networking;

To develop an I.T-oriented facility (websites/CD-ROMs) for healthcare information, community cohesion and community support;

To establish free multilingual helpline for general healthcare information, referrals, and community involvement in mainstream healthy activities;

To provide an effective advocacy service, as and when asked by the patients, their carers, or the relatives;

To publish health awareness-raising articles in local and national community newspapers;

To exchange information with public and voluntary sector organisations for sharing good practice;

To publish regular community newsletters to highlight the progress and activities of the CHIEF CIC.
