Accreditation for Acute Inpatient Mental Health Services (AIMS)

The AIMS accreditation process (managed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists) incorporates elements that research has demonstrated to be effective in bringing about quality improvement. It gives encouragement to identify and prioritise problems and sets achievable targets for change. AIMS has worked in collaboration with the Healthcare Commission to ensure that standards are compatible with those which will be used in the planned improvement review of acute inpatient mental health services.
