South West London Neonatal Network
The aim of the SW London Neonatal Network is to improve the standard of neonatal care across the sector.
Each neonatal unit within the network has been designated to provide different levels of care. Some units would only provide special care (level 1) most would provide high dependancy and limited intensive care (level 2)and some the full range of intensive care (level 3). Some level 3 units will also provide neonatal surgery and other specialised services eg. cardiac.
There are five neonatal units within the South West London Neonatal Network (see map for location). These are:
-
St George's Hospital Neonatal Unit (Level 3 + surgery)
-
Kingston Hospital Neonatal Unit (Level 2)
-
Mayday University Hospital Neonatal Unit (Level2)
-
St Helier Hopsital Neonatal Unit (Level2)
-
Epsom General Hospital Neonatal Unit (Level 1)
The population served by the South West London Neonatal Network (SWLNN) is approximately 1.3 million and is defined as the residents of the Health Authorities of Croydon, Kingston, Richmond & Twickenham, Sutton & Merton and Wandsworth.
In 2004/5, approximately 18,000 babies were born in SW London of which approximately 1,400 babies were admitted to a neonatal unit.
