Cardiac Physiology Network South (CPNS)
The Cardiac Physiology Network South was established in August 2005 to provide a link between cardiac departments within the Southern region and raise the profile of cardiac physiology locally and nationally.
The group is involved with education, clinical standards and progress. The collaborative consists of:
-
Southampton University Hospital Trust - Southampton
-
Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust - Portsmouth
-
North Hampshire Hospital Trust - Basingstoke
As a collaborative our mission is to:
-
work together and improve patient care by minimising variations in clinical practice
-
collaborate on training and education
-
support and develop a highly skilled, acknowledged workforce
The group is forging partnerships within cardiology and education to ensure that cardiac physiology develops as a profession. One such group is the Cardiology Steering Group. This group consists of other cardiac units across the South that wish to co-operate and share experiences on workforce and service demand issues. The group extends from Poole in the West to Brighton in the East and as far North as Basingstoke. Other members include appropriate National Health Service Departments and Higher Education Institutes. Typically this group meets bi-monthly.
