National PBC Clinical Leaders Network
Our aim is to embed PBC into every day practice in Primary Care.
PBC re-invigoration, as defined in the NHS Next Stage Review, 'Our vision for primary and community care', is very much a work in progress. The PBC Clinical Leadership Network was developed to sustain the good work to date and support up skilling by facilitating knowledge transfer and shared learning in Primary Care.
These clinical champions are part of the emerging leadership, recognised and endorsed by SHAs as trusted advocates. Their aim is to give a consistent message and act as a resource to help develop good/best practice in service redesign and help connect PBC groups.
The Lead Champion, Dr James Kingsland has an established track record in the delivery of PBC programmes having worked with PBC policy since its inception.
Working with the full support of DH Director of Commissioning, James will be helping to strengthen the implementation of PBC by fostering a culture of innovation. His role is to promote clinical leadership through the development of this network and mobilise these champions to help bring clarity to PBC nationally.
Our aims are as follows:
- To collect and share the best examples of clinical commissioning good practice
- To support the development of commissioning tools such as accountability agreements (compacts)
- To clarify the relationship between clinical commissioning and the Transforming Community Services agenda
- To work with the Care Quality Commission in developing assessments of quality in PBC service redesign
- To act as an expert resource for SHAs in supporting workshops and dispute resolutions
- To explore links with secondary care to enable development of more effective care pathways
This is not an exclusive club but a genuinely non-partisan attempt to bring together all those interested in the development of clinical commissioning. We welcome your ideas and your participation. To read about the role and how to join us, click here.
