Diabetes United (spanning Sandwell & Heart of Birmingham PCTs)
Three organisations comprise ‘Diabetes United’- Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT (HoB), Sandwell PCT and Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWBHT), founded in 2005
Diabetes United exists to:

Improve and enhance the quality and range of services for people at risk of or with established diagnosis of diabetes across our health economy

To act in a clinical advisory capacity to inform commissioning of diabetes services

To provide advice to both PCTs and SWBHT concerning performance against national standards

To lead the development of diabetes clinical models, especially for new services and service ‘redesign’

To act in a clinical advisory capacity to the ‘Diabetes Project Group’ (responsible for the operational delivery of the Diabetes ‘Towards 2010’ work)
