Update September 2005
Peer Review means
Making the most of the dayAt the July WYMIF Meeting it was agreed that this year the focus of the 2005 Reviews would be Raising Our Game. It’s very much up to each patch to shape the Review to their needs and circumstances. But you may like to think about how you can re-use the work that goes into preparing for the Review and pass on the outputs from it. In spotlighting achievement and success you may be able to draw on – or feed into – submissions for the 2006 Modernisation Awards (deadline 2nd December). Peer Review isan opportunity to develop patch thinking and get an external friendly reflection on the successful elements to be developed and the learning that needs to be preserved and drawn upon to feed into implementing the Fitness for Purpose Review and Commissioning for a Patient-led NHS, and inform the Integrated Service Improvement Framework. |

Review Panel members wanted.
Now is the time to nominate yourself and/or colleagues to serve on one or more of the Panels carrying out Peer Review in each of West Yorkshire’s health communities.
We’d like the make up of each Panel to give as full a range of perspectives as possible – so we’re looking for volunteers from primary and secondary care, mental health, unplanned care and those working across whole systems or with cross-cutting approaches
Those who formed last year’s Panels say the day spent on the Review was both informative and stimulating, leading to useful contacts in other patches and challenging reflections on their own practice. In addition to the day itself you would need to commit to
- Reading the briefing pack prepared by the patch (last year’s feedback suggested these should be make these shorter)
- Attend a preparatory meeting about a week before the actual review to agree how the panel will conduct its appreciative inquiry, appoint a chair and get any necessary clarification of the Briefing from the patch Co-ordinator
