South West London Cancer Network
The South West London Cancer Network was established in 2000. The ultimate accountability for managing the cancer work programme in SWL rests with the Cancer Network Board reporting currently to the London Strategic Health Authority. The Network comprises five acute Trusts, six PCTs, four hospices and two Cancer Resource Centres. A small management team that includes clinical, managerial and support staff supports the Network. The Network Team is hosted by Sutton and Merton PCT and serves an ethnically and socially diverse population of 1.5 million.
The SWLCN is here to make a difference to patients with cancers and their families as they undergo diagnosis, treatment and care. It brings together health professionals, volunteers and users, working through a range of different forums and partnerships, to deliver the National Cancer Plan.
Cancer has a high profile nationally and locally - a reflection of the importance that our society places on efforts to prevent and ameliorate this disease. That's why everything we do needs to be driven by the simple rule - what would work best for patients? Having established this - based on the wide range of expertise available to us across the Network - then it's our responsibility to get on and deliver it.
