Carbon Trust - NHS Network
The NHS Network is a programme funded and supported by the Carbon Trust.
The NHS Network has been running for more than six years and is free for participants to join. Its main goal is for NHS Trust Energy Managers or those responsible for Energy and Environmental issues to share and exchange information on reducing Carbon Emissions in the Healthcare sector.
The UK Government has set reduction targets for it to meet; with new legislation coming into force regarding climate change, and ever increasing costs for energy, many hospitals require help and assistance to meet new legislations and to reduce their carbon emissions. The NHS Network acts as a one-stop stop, bringing together Trusts and Hospitals from around the UK, where information can be exchanged based upon practical experience, hence saving people time from reinventing the wheel.
NHS Carbon Management Phase 3
The third phase of the NHS Carbon Management (NHSCM) programme was launched at an event on 1 May and the presentations from that day are now available to download. These include the Carbon Trust explaining how and why they work with the health sector; an introduction to the NHSCM toolkit and a case study from Cwm Taf NHS Trust. All the presentations have been combined into a single Powerpoint file. Total savings identified during the first two phases of NHSCM add up to 125,000 tons of CO2 per annum and £14 million per annum.
