PCT cluster involvement in the NHS staff survey

NHS Employers has announced changes in the way PCTs and PCT clusters will take part in the 2011/12 NHS staff survey.

Primary care organisations are able to commission the survey as individual PCTs or PCT clusters.

In the original guidance manual, Picker, the organisation contracted to deliver the survey, stated that standard sampling procedures would need to be followed at PCT level.  Since releasing this guidance it has come to their attention that a number of PCT clusters are unable to provide them with this level of data, partly due to staff records now reflecting employment at cluster level rather than employment by specific PCTs.
