Andrew Lansley launches the ‘right care’ shared decision making programme
Secretary of state for health, Andrew Lansley, has launched the “right care” shared decision-making programme.
Shared decision-making is central to the right care paradigm – “right care, right patient, right place, right time”. The new programme has three main objectives: making patient decision aids available on national platforms to help patients make the right decision about their own care; to make “shared decision making” the norm within the consultation; and to embed support for shared decision within clinical record systems and national policies.
