Essex Cardiac and Stroke Network
Established in April 2003, the Essex Cardiac and Stroke Network is an NHS funded initiative designed to make improvements in the way coronary heart disease services are delivered to patients.
The Network links clinicians, managers and commissioners involved in every aspect of cardiac care through the NHS system. Staff working together can focus on solving problems for patients wherever they are in the system. By stepping out of the usual organisational boundaries, the staff across the network can have a more balanced overview of how the whole system works.
With this overall knowledge of local cardiac care, the Network can be more influential in developing policy, aiding commissioning decisions and delivering better, equitable services improvements according to the NHS National Framework (NSF) for Coronary Heart Disease (CHD).
