Cancer Patient Information

Supporting cancer networks and clinical teams to offer accessible, high quality and comprehensive packages of information to their patients and carers.

The CSC 'IP' National Patient Information Team set up this national network in 2004. The network now supports over 800 members - all with an interest in producing and providing accessible, high quality and comprehensive packages of patient information. Members work for a range of national and local statutory and non-statutory organisations.

The national team set up this network because the Government is committed to providing patient centred health care. A key improvement to patient centred care is to ensure that in future all patients will receive the information they need about their condition and possible treatment options.

Over the past 3 years, the National CSC 'IP' Patient Information Team has been supporting cancer networks and clinical teams to offer accessible, high quality and comprehensive packages of information to their patients and carers.

As well as setting up and supporting this network, a website has been developed to provide quick links to the practical national resources that cancer networks want to use as they work to improve patient information delivery in their local areas

A discussion board has also been created and set up - available through the website. Also a family of electronic patient information pathways has been created and these too are available through the website.

In addition, the national team is in regular contact with all 34 cancer networks with a range of targeted and tailored support.
