London NHS Transport Network
The London NHS Travel Plan Network is a support group which promotes the development and uptake of travel plans among NHS Trusts across London. The Network promotes healthy lifestyles through walking and cycling schemes along with the promotion of sustainable forms of transport such as car clubs, car sharing and public transport use.
The Network is comprised of five sub-regional NHS Travel Plan groups. These 'local' groups cover North Central London, North East London, North West London, South East London and South West London. Two members from each local group attend the Network Steering group meetings to provide a two-way flow of information.
The local groups have already identified that they wish to work together on:
-
Travel awareness campaign
-
Car parking management
-
Fleet management
-
Patient transport service issues
-
Travel plan development
-
Travel plan assessment criteria
Participation in their local group also provides Trusts with improved access to Transport for London and the individual London Boroughs.
The Network has received generous support from Transport for London and committed backing from the Department of Health, Regional Public Health - London.
