Integrated Care Network

Information

The ICN is a learning and improvement network which is part of the Care Services Improvement Partnership. Its aim is to support health and social care organisations in developing effective partnership arrangements and integrated services to improve the quality of care they provide.

The ICN has from the outset forged strong links for collabaoration with the ADSS, IDeA, NHS Confederation, ODPM and LGA.

We are structured as a national initiative working within the regions and draw upon a membership of over 500 people with integration roles in Social Care, Health and the Independent and Voluntary sectors.

The ICN does not have a client-based focus and works with any care economy to assist in resolving issues around partnership and joint working. We work to move partnerships on to the next stage.

In April 2005, the Department of Health commissioned the ICN to maintain the S31 budget notification database. We are also now the main point of contact for the Department of Health for work around Health Act Flexibilities, Section 31 and Care Trust development.

The work of the ICN seeks to impact on the five pillars that underpin our purpose:

• Access to care
• Reshaping care services
• Greater engagement with local communities and those experiencing social inclusion
• Reshaping of financial and other resource flows
• Developing and redesigning workforce patterns

As a major component of the CSIP framework we aim to promote the wider objectives of integration within policy for service improvement.

Further details about ICN plus access to resources and booking for national events can be obtained from our website.
