Database of Good Ideas

Introduction

In November 2005, NHS Networks was asked by the Department of Health to request examples of good practice from all the PCTs in England. The Your Health, Your Care, Your Say consultation had highlighted that the public wanted primary care to:

• focus more on prevention
• be better integrated with social care and other services
• offer services which have been traditionally provided in hospital settings
• provide rapid access

PCTs were asked to submit examples of projects which reflected one or more of these elements and more than 100 case studies were received. Only a few of these could be cited in the white paper which came out of Your Health, Your Care, Your Say. However, because the quality of submissions was so high, it was decided to publish all the case studies in an on-line database of good practice in primary care.
