Smile Getting referrals

Hi everybody

Like Christine says we think the way forward is to get out to as many events as possible so that people get to know about the Health Trainer Service + a bit of advertising (depending on the budget!!), if any of you have tried things which worked really well (or on the other hand were a complete waste of time!!) we'd love to know,

Regards
Sue

Question calling all h/t

other way forwards are to get onto the likes of the cancer buses, job buses and any other buses that run around in your areas that are promting services, as we are here to reach as many people as possible who do not readily access services.

when we first came into post we went over to see the manchester H/T to see what they were involved with and one of things that came out was that they i had 1 day per week in the local hospital, which I thought was a very good Idea. could even try and see if you could take part in the post operative clinic's in your area.

i would say the most annoying part of this job is when people DNA and don't ring.................

what i would like to see happen is that we can start setting up some form of health trainers forum on a regular basis and being able to offer examples of one anothers experiences. there was one earlier on in the year, and i dd express this to the organisors then.

what ae you views on this

Smile Health Trainer forum

A regular health trainer forum sounds good to me, I don't know what the rest of my colleagues here in Harrow think about this idea though.

Default Health Trainer accreditation/City & Guilds Level 3

5 H-T colleagues and I from the Portsmouth, Southampton and Hampshire PCT areas have recently completed the above accreditation. This took place over 8 days, and involved disussions on H-T topics, gathering work-based observations, and getting witness statements as evidence to put in our portfolios. We also had to do some homework, but that wasn't too bad. It is important to look carefully at the words in each of the statements and criteria in each of the 4 modules, so that the evidence produced reflects what is required from each statement. Reflective and discussion notes are useful, but observations and witness statements are 1st-grade evidence.
This was followed by an extra day, in order to organise our portfolios, using guidance from our H-T tutor.
If you are about to do, or currently doing your portfolio, It might be useful to have discussions with your colleagues to see what evidence you can gather to help you towards your accreditation, and also to provide extra support for each other. I consider myself lucky to have been able to provide such support for my colleagues, for this helped to build motivation and team spirit. After all, H-T's are supposed to motivate their clients to better health lifestyles!
Best of luck to those of you who are working towards your accreditation.
Regards,
