In 2004, the NHS Alliance and NatPaCT collected stories from their various networks how about good working relationships between PCTs and their clinicians are transforming health services for patients and the public.

The resulting publication Can Do! was so well received that the NHS Alliance and NatPaCT have teamed up in 2005 to produce volume two – Fast Forward.

For Fast Forward, PCTs were asked to submit examples of their work in these areas:

• Redesigning services
• Improving access
• Improving safety
• Long Term Conditions
• Local health initiatives
• Practice-based commissioning

The result is almost 200 inspiring stories, voluntarily submitted. They show that primary care has a lot to celebrate – a fact all too easily overlooked. They are no more than the tip of the iceberg, but they are undoubtedly grounds for optimism and cause for celebration.

Fast Forward is published by the NHS Alliance with support from NatPaCT, as a print publication, a downloadable pdf, and here as an online resource.
