Pharmaceutical policy has become “over-focused to the point of obsession on issues of price and cost”, Professor Richard Sullivan, Institute of Cancer Policy, will argue during the PharmaTimes Great Oxford Debate – proposing the motion ‘patients have the right to the best medicines, regardless of cost’ alongside Eric Low, CEO of Myeloma UK, and Stephen Whitehead, CEO of the ABPI.

On the other side, the Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell, MP, Chairman of the Health Select Committee, will make the case that he is not in favour of a motion that appears to give treatments based on pharmaceutical products a higher priority. He will be joined by Professor Mike Pringle, President Elect of the RCGP, and the MS Society’s Laura Weir, who is also Chair of Patients involved in NICE.

Join the debate on 20 September at the Oxford Union. For more details, go to www.pharmatimes.com/god, email hannah@pharmatimes.com or telephone 020 8487 9119.
