The first Green Light Pharmacy opened in November 1999 in London, Euston, being the first Pharmacy devoted entirely to meeting all your healthcare requirements. We now have 5 more branches across London - Clerkenwell, Cricklewood, Eastcote and two in Shepherd's Bush. At Green Light you can get a prescription filled, and also do so much more. Improving your quality of life and personal wellbeing is our goal. Your Green Light Pharmacy is here to help you manage your health and so improve your day to day quality of life. Often it is as simple as relieving the frustrating symptoms of coughs and colds so you can "get on with your day". Sometimes it may be helping you to manage a previously diagnosed condition such as asthma or diabetes. It could even be helping you to quit smoking once and for all. Whatever the case the aim is the same - health and happiness so you can get on with life safe with the knowledge you can better manage your own health. When you visit a Green Light Pharmacy you will notice the difference straight away. You enter into a professional and positive atmosphere - a place where you feel at home to discuss those nagging health concerns. Green Light pharmacists are always available on the shop floor ever ready to help and advise. You can at last benefit fully from the professional advice from someone who has a university degree in the study of medicines and health. Together with the Green Light Pharmacist you can decide what's best for you and your lifestyle. At each Green Light we offer services specially selected by our Pharmacists to help you. All Green Light Pharmacies have private consulting rooms from where our extended range of services are provided. Why not take advantage by visiting the Green Light Pharmacist for blood pressure or cholesterol checks? The range of services available through your Green Light pharmacy is being continually upgraded. Why we are different We believe Green Light is different and unique to other Pharmacy's because of the following founding principles - Our primary activity is to deliver healthcare services to the community. We are not "retailers" and our Pharmacies are geared towards providing services that are "person centred" and "community focussed". Prevention of illness is at the forefront of everything we do. Maintaining general wellbeing is as important as treating and managing illness. Our organisation is 100% owned by our pharmacists and staff (ie. along the lines of an employee co-operative). If someone leaves Green Light they are obligated to sell their shareholding. New employees are provided with the option of employee ownership to enable them to have a personal interest in Green Light and the services we provide. Shares cannot be held by those who are not involved with Green Light. All salaries including those of the Directors are set at what a Pharmacist or Technician would reasonably expect as a professional. "Fat cat" salaries will never be paid. Dividends are only paid as part of this "professional" salary and are not paid extra to this. Any excess profits will be reinvested into the community or to bring Green Light to other communities. Building Community capacity to look after its own health is a core aim of Green Light. We attempt to recruit locally and build partnerships with local neighbourhood organisations. Sustainability of Green Light and a "healthy community" structure is an important goal.
