A database with some 400 examples of innovation in commissioning from clinicians and managers across the NHS and its partners - a joint initiative with NHS Institute and ISIP. See all latest entries.
Learning from practice comprises
- examples of commissioning, demand management and shift to primary carelargely drawn from a survey conducted through NHS Networks in March and April 2006. Published to support the DH Commissioning Framework of July 2006, it provides a wealth of evidence on:
- how demand for hospital services is being reduced
- how real savings / productivity gains are being made
- how patients' experiences and outcomes are being improved
- For the February 2007 Commissioning for Health and Well Being framework further examples were collected around health improvement / health inequalities work from primary care, commissioning for health and well-being, practice based commissioning as well as joint commissioning and commissioning from the third sector .
Learning from Practice is...
-
an opportunity to share experience, propagate learning and contribute to a self improving NHS
-
a source of inspiration, a starting point for exploration and a focus for challenge
But it is not recommending 'best practice' and entries are not edited, validated or endorsed.See Paul Plsek's challenges on our expectations and use of this material in Looking for Best Practice? Let's be realistic!
