System Reform and Organisational Design

System Reform and Organisational Design

The appropriate size and shape of NHS organisations continues to be a hot topic for debate.

NHS Networks has been supporting PCTs to be proactive in local debates about appropriate size and shape of local systems by facilitating debate and feedback across the system, developing tools and signposting knowledge of the current picture.

We are keen to widen the discussion to include members from the wider health system.

A Strategic Approach to Shifting Services and Resources  'upstream' from Acute Hospitals to Primary and Community settings is the title of a paper published by the Eastern Health and Social Services Board, Northern Ireland. The paper presents a strategic approach to moving £4.2m from hospital services 'upstream' to the Community, redeploying the £4.2m and creating the equivalent of 114 beds in schemes designed to keep people out of hospital or speed their discharge and return to independence. The four-page document is now available to download, together with three supplementary documents. For further information, please contact Anne Lynch.
